5 Tips to Make Your Wi-Fi Connection More Stable!

If you are using Wi-Fi at your home, make sure it's stable and secure enough. The Internet connection should be reliable for both personal and professional purposes. Basically, there are lots of factors which control the Wi-Fi signals, outside our control. As these outside factors are tough to change, you can customise your home environment as per your requirements. Here are five simple tips to boost your Wi-Fi connection at your home, which have been compiled from a video created by StarHub:

1. Set the router high:

Usually the router is placed on the floor, in the corner of a room, and it's quite dangerous. Your router should always be mounted high off the ground and in the center of your house so that the signal reach every nook and corner of your home equally.

2. Personal Space:

Being a human being, would you like it if your privacy is interfered? Well, a router also dislikes if someone invades its personal space. The router should be kept at a distance from all the clutter and you must check all the time if any other device or appliance next to your router is causing any disruption in signal. Wi-Fi signals can be disrupted through microwaves, home phone sets and wires too.

3. DIY Modify:

Give a try to do-it-yourself modification using a can of soda. Cut the bottom of the can and then cut the can lengthwise to the top. Then cut around the top in one direction and then in the opposite direction. Leave a little bit connecting the top pf the can's body. Stick the router's antenna through the hole in the top used to drink and arrange the cut-out body so it looks like a sail. This trick has found success among many people though some people think it's not effective enough. But it results in a small increase in signal strength definitely.

4. Extend it:

If you are not a bug fan of DIY, then you can purchase Wi-Fi extenders to increase the range of your signal. It picks up your router's signal and then rebroadcast it. It also extends its range artificially. But doing this on a regular basis, the strength of signal can be decreased, so this is the best solution for those people who need a strong signal but within a short range.

5. Go 2 for 1:

If you have two routers in your home, it will definitely increase the amount of signal around you and solve your Wi-Fi woes. As there are plenty of affordable Wi-Fi routers out there, this solution is simple and low-cost too.
